"I read the first chapter of A Brief History of Time when Dad was still alive, and I got incredibly heavy boots about how relatively insignificant life is, and how, compared to the universe and compared to time, it didn't even matter if I existed at all" (86).
This quote stood out to me because of how sad it was. Oskar has many deep, sad thoughts but this might be the saddest one so far. He is thinking about how unimportant he is and how his life doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things so no wonder this gives Oskar incredibly heavy boots.
