Julia quote questions

Well that was a pretty crazy chapter...
Something i am confused on was when it says "he took her because he had no real right to touch her hand" (149)
This line answers some of my questions like why is he doing all this for her if he knows he has to get there alone and questions like that. It also brings up some new ones for me though.
What does he mean when he says he took her? Is that referring to her engagement before Tom? And my other question is if you guys think falling in love with Daisy changed how he felt when he was described in this quote?

  1. I think what Nick meant by "took her" in that Gatsby could only be with her and not fall in love with her since he was a penniless man and she lived in a colossal house at the time. I would also like to bring up a quote in the next paragraph that would bring up other questions:

"She vanished into her rich house, into her rich, full life, leaving Gatsby--nothing. He felt married to her that was all" (149).

How I interpret the way "married" is used is that Gatsby is married to Daisy because he relies on her for this rich lifestyle when truly he feels very poor and insignificant. This gets in the way of their relationship because of their difference of socio-economic classes allowing Gatsby not to feel in love with her as much as he wants to. Does anyone interpret this quote differently or have anything else to add on?
